COMMUNITY HEALTH EXTENSION WORKER

Community health department is one of the departments of Fabotas College of health sciences and technology since the inception of the school.  The department was accredited in the year 2015 which implies that the community health extension workers and junior community health workers (jchew). The department has graduated two sets of CHEW and JCHEW students respectively with outstanding performance at the national examinations.  The department is headed by the head of department (hod) with clinical instructor, senior lecturers, examination officer and administrative staffers including the secretaries, office assistant and cleaners. 

The community health registration board of Nigeria (CHRBN) is responsible for the training and regulation of the students in the department. The community health registration board of Nigeria handed over the curriculum of training both in theory and practical’s to the college for academic staff to impart knowledge.  The department has grounded community health Tutors and other specialized lecturers in various courses to impart sound knowledge to the students in training

ACCREDITATION STATUS: The department is accredited.

PROSPECT OF THE STUDENTS:

Qualified students have good prospect of further training as community health officer (CHO) community health tutor programme, Bachelor of Science degree in community health, master’s programme in community health and doctor of philosophy in community health in various universities in Nigeria

SUCCESS STORIES

The two external examination conducted by the board for our students wee of great success 94% success in 2017 and 78% success in 2018 at the national examinations respectively.

SOCIAL EVENTSOF THE DEPARTMENT

Extracurricular activities includes

  • Sports like male and female football, sprints and indoor games.
  • Our students also participate in quiz and  debates with other departments in the college
  • Health talk to some private secondary schools in Ekiti state
  • Community sanitation /Environmental sanitation during the student week
  • Participation in community health student events around the country
