HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

The history of Health Information Management department runs parallel with the history of  FABOTAS College of health sciences and technology Ado-Ekiti. On 26th January, 2011 the Proprietor wrote the notification of commencement of operation and request for support and assistance from the registrar of Health Record Board.

            On 29th November, 2012 Board granted the college a provisional accreditation to run the Health Information Management Technician Programme for a period of two (2) years. Accreditation team from the Board visited the College for the Re-accreditation programme in 2014, 2016 and 2017. Also on 28th November, 2017 Board granted the College four years accreditation on Professional Diploma in Health Information Management. On the 18th of December, 2018 Board granted the college HND accreditation programme for a period of three (3) years to run Higher National Diploma in Health Information Management.

            The department is fully accreditation by the Health Records officer Registration Board of Nigeria for Professional Diploma Programme, National Diploma programme and Higher National Diploma programme in Health Information Management.

            Our External and National Examination results have been encouraging, recently released 13 out of 15 students presented for January, 2019 Board Exam and is the same impressive results cuts across our previous Board Exam.

ACCREDITATION STATUS: FULL ACCREDITATION STATUS ON PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA, NATIONAL DIPLOMA AND HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

PROSPECT OF THE STUDENTS:

            This programme is designed to provide and produce the grandaunts and technologist with the knowledge and skill to plan, collate, organize, disseminate monitor and manage vital information required at the local, state and national levels in order to ensure effective and comprehensive national health care delivery.

            A diplomat of this programme on professional diploma, national diploma and higher national diploma should be able to:

  • Plan, and organize health information services in health care delivery system.
  • Organize and control health records in health and medical establishments.
  • Supervise the collecting, storing, retrieval and preservation of health information.
  • Collate, analyze and present health statistical data.
  • Participate in planning quality control, evaluation, researches in health care delivery system and other relevant committees in defining standards for health information.
  • Design, standardize and control health records forms

SUCCESS STORIES: The department recorded 95%pass in the national board examination result released in  JANUARY 2019.
